Overview
Responsibilities:
- Guide the international reinsurance reserving team in completing annual reserve studies; validate that the assumptions and methods used are appropriate
- Manage the actuarial inputs to the quarterly close process; monitor Actual vs Expected loss emergence, suggest movements in booked and/or indicated ultimate loss ratios where necessary
- Periodically review the effectiveness and suitability of the segmentation of contracts into IBNR groups
- Work closely with the Chief Reserving Actuary; advise of unexpected developments and trends
- Establish regular and meaningful communications with the U/W, claims and pricing teams; promote the reserving function as a key partner to the success of the Reinsurance division
- Collaborate with pricing actuaries on key assumptions (e.g. loss trends and development patterns)
