SAP Canada Tax team is responsible for tax accounting and reporting for quarter-end and year-end close (including effective tax rate and cash tax forecast), Federal and provincial income, withholding and sales tax compliance, tax audits, and transfer pricing documentation for SAP Canada. In addition, the Canada Tax team monitors tax law changes and analyzes its potential impact to SAP as well as supports mergers and acquisitions, and legal entity consolidations.


The Tax Specialist will support the SAP Canada Tax Manager in tax accounting and reporting, sales, income and withholding tax compliance, tax audits and special projects as needed by collaborating closely with the Manager and other stakeholders.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare monthly sales tax returns
  • Prepare monthly withholding tax analysis and remit withholding tax payments
  • Conduct internal sales tax audits, report and resolve issues identified
  • Participate in the monthly and quarterly close process including posting journal entries, reviewing and reconciling balance sheet and profit and loss accounts
  • Coordinate the preparation of technical reports and applications required to obtain federal and provincial research and development incentive credits, under the direction of SAP Canada’s Tax Manager. This involves coordinating with local Technical Experts to provide relevant details regarding R&D projects, working with our local external Tax Advisor to review and revise eligible salaries, costs & materials for eligible projects, calculating and maximizing tax incentives (Quebec E-Business tax credit, federal & provincial SR&ED tax credits) and assisting with related Government audits
  • Assist with tax audits and other finance and accounting tasks and responsibilities as required


EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related business field
  • One to three years of experience in a fast-paced/high volume computer-based Accounting environment
  • Bilingual (English and French) candidate is preferred
  • Experience with SAP ERP systems is highly desirable.
  • Proficient in MS Excel
