Intelligence Data Operator Projects [Canada]


 
The Ministry of the Solicitor General, Ontario Provincial Police, and the Bureau Commander, Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau are seeking a qualified individual to join the Intelligence Data Operation Projects with the Biker Enforcement Unit (BEU). In this exciting, rewarding and challenging opportunity, you will provide data services for the entry, query and retrieval of highly confidential criminal and/or intelligence information as part of a team within the Organized Crime & Enforcement Bureau, OCEB.

Note: This is a eight(8) month temporary assignment located in Mississauga. The position to be filled is a temporary assignment with possibility for extension. Successful candidate will return to their home position at the conclusion of the assignment. Only business related expenses will be provided. About Us:

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is one of North America's largest deployed police services with more than 5,800 uniformed officers, 2,400 civilian employees and 830 Auxiliary officers. The Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau, Biker Enforcement Unit (BEU) gathers intelligence and evidence on substantive criminal offences to support prosecutions under Bill C-24 and amendments to the Criminal Code relating to Criminal Organizations. BEU serves as an expert resource capacity to assist law enforcement investigations in Ontario, throughout Canada and internationally by providing training for front-line police officers and Crown Attorneys. BEU creates efficiency in the way policing resources are utilized, by maximizing the collective law enforcement efforts against Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs (OMG) in the Province of Ontario and has a leadership role in Canada by implementing the National Strategy on OMG Enforcement in the Province of Ontario.

What can I expect to do in this role?

To provide data services for the entry, query and retrieval of highly confidential criminal and/or intelligence information as part of a team within the Organized Crime & Enforcement Bureau, OCEB.

How do I qualify?

Mandatory

  • Ability to pass an OPP background/ security investigation.
  • Ability to pass a Federal Government security clearance investigation, or the equivalent, as required.
  • Typing at 40 words per minute.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies and programs e.g. FIPPA, Human Rights Code, Respectful Workplace Policy.

Knowledge of relevant sections of federal and provincial legislation, OPP policies and procedures related to Intelligence data and systems.

Knowledge of police intelligence data analysis to make changes/upgrades and provide audit recommendations to system users.

Knowledge of various protection levels, classifications and guidelines for intelligence documentation, as well how FIPPA Regulations affect dissemination and ensure information is shared only with authorized personnel.

Oral communication skills to respond to general inquiries from the various clients that are served by the IIMU. Listening skills when taking instructions from Team Lead, Unit Manager and/or Section Manager.

Interpersonal skills to collaborate with colleagues when processing urgent requests for assistance and balancing multiple priorities.

Analytical skills to follow–up with the most effective way to present material when typing reports, spreadsheets, charts and tables and to resolve problems by trying different layout formats or software packages. Ability to identify and analyze the nature of enquiries or calls, some of which are confidential / sensitive in nature, gaining clarity of request, and determines how best to respond.

Knowledge and skill in use of personal computer operation using Ministry standard software applications to perform various functions such as e-mail, word processing, database, spreadsheet and presentation functions, as well as computer programs including WIN and IFIS to complete corporate administrative system information such as attendance and expenses as required.
